After changing the Email settings in the administration setting section from PHP to SMTP, the emails started being delivered to the email addresses in the list.  However, it does not send emails to any yahoo email addresses. At first I thought that the issue was that the emails needed to be sent to a domain email address only, but that is not the case.  I have read somewhere that yahoo email owners will sometimes not receive emails from some locations.

Roel,

Since I can't upload anything to this forum, I have sent you an email with two screen shots that show it is not working.  Look forward to your response.

Fred,

In the To section a file with or without file extension can be specified. When the extension is omitted, the default .txt will be assumed.

It is strange that if the cron job summary report says emails have been sent, but the recipients did not receive any. This means that the PHP mail function executed successfully, but the produced emails were not delivered by your server. (I remember from other posts from Dan and Schwartz that some ISPs require the sender email address to be registered with the ISP!?)

As said in an earlier post the cron job starting the lcalcron.php script should run early in the morning and it must run before 12 noon! If it runs after 12 noon, it is considered to be running for the next day. (This is done to best cope with reminders sent to different countries with different time zones.).

Roel,

Now that we have resolved the problem of the cron job not being sent out, I have set up another calendar that I am hoping to use for my NFL football pool that I run on an annual basis. It is based on the MySQL database and not on the SQLite database.

Yes, the cronjob summary did say that email notifications were sent to the recipients in the text file which is why I was wondering why none of them received notifications. The problem may be that I was trying to run the cron job 24 hours and 30 minutes before the event time, but after midday.  I will try it again tomorrow morning to see if that makes a difference.

BTW, should the text file be displayed with the .txt extension or without in the To: section of the event window...?  I tried it both ways but don't know which one I should be using.

As always, thanks for your help.

Hi Fred,

Is it the MySQL or SQLite calendar you used for this notification test?
Did the cronjob summary say that email notifications were sent to the recipients in your text file?
At what time did your cron job run? It should normally run early in the morning, but it MUST run before midday of the day the notifications should be sent.

Since you gave me FTP access, I took the liberty to look in your log files and I saw that in your MySQL luxcal.log file that the last cronjob was aborted, because the remote IP address of the cron job service had changed and did not match the one specified on the Settings page.

I am testing the module that sends email notifications to a list of people announcing an event. After reading the instructions, I set up a test text file with email addresses on separate lines and placed the file in the reciplists folder of the application.

I then set up an event, placed the text file name in the To: line of the event window and placed 1 day before the event as the time to send notifications.

The results were that I received a conjob summary and a changes list at the email address assigned for the application, but none of the addresses in the text list received a notification.  Where am I going wrong?
